Starting my buisiness part 1 Names

I was thinking back to my blogging days, and thought I should try it again!
eventually I am sure this blog will be full of all kinda of goodies, but for now! how about a little chat about starting a business with an online shop?

There is so much I have been learning about marketing and proper business concepts, that I want to share it with everyone. I now know how hard it is to get all of the resources,information and brain power required without going insane!
I know that there are tons of different approaches and millions of different opinions, so I'll just break down what I have done, and link to the useful sites that I have stumbled upon, take from it what you will ^_~

Part one
~~~~~~~~
The Name
First I took what I wanted to do, (make Japanese inspired bags, Victorian and Gothic stuff, etc) and tried to come up with a name.
The most helpful articles were this:
http://sbinfocanada.about.com/od/startup/a/createbizname.htm
and this:
http://www.biztrek.com/articles/Naming%20your%20business.htm
If you want a website don't forget to check if the domain is available!!! www.godaddy.com has a very easy search bar.
here is another big tip. Google it! This way you will know how unique the name is, and if its actually the name of some foreign town or a curse word in Swahili
Not wanting to have to ever rename my business I spent over a week coming up with name ideas and throwing them out. After many "almost perfect, but not quite" names,I found it, "Onyx & Silk".
Onyx was the Victorian and Gothic aspect with silk representing the more Japanese side, with a elegant and warm feel and nothing like it. A name open enough that it doesn't tie the name down to only Japanese, Victorian, or Gothic, or to bags and even textiles, but still has the essence I wanted. Not that your name has to be as flexible as mine,that's just what suits my needs.
I recommend you spend the time now to make a name, changing it down the road will likely hurt your business,especially if its a smaller one.
I think that about does it for everything I know about names.
part two will come later, and I think it will be about selling options and such
